Exhile
גלות
Exile is distance, disconnection.
Exile is foreignness.
To be exiled from your country, from your home, from your family, your community.
Spiritual and physical displacement of a person from their familiar culture.
Exile is living in separation. Separation from the identity which is rooted deep in our consciousness.
Exile can be willful immigration or for lack of choice, but it can also be a spiritual separation from one’s identity. A person can also be exiled within his or her own country, in certain sociopolitical conditions. A person can also be exiled within his or her self in certain conflicts of gender or religion.
Exile is also memories and longing for different periods of time, habits, people, culture.
A person needs boundaries in order to belong. A limitation of one’s physical and spiritual boundaries, thereby creating a clearly defined area of freedom in which one has a sense of physical, social and spiritual belonging and security - the opposite of exile. At a time that allowed us to be introspective, the everyday and obvious were experienced from a different lens and even ceased to exist completely.
These less-than-ideal work conditions narrowed the accessibility of material for subjects to work with. Being stuck in this way, with abundant time during challenging circumstances, gave way to different artistic works, which are often not characteristic to the artist.
היא ריחוק ניתוק.
גלות היא זרות.
להיות גולה מארצך מביתך משפחתך קהילתך. עקירה רוחנית ופיסית של אדם מעולמו התרבותי, שכל כך היה מוכר לו.
גלות היא גם בדידות.
גלות היא לחיות בפירוד. פירוד מזהות מושרשת עמוק בתודעה. לרוב הגלות היא הגירה מרצון או מחוסר ברירה אך יכולה גם להיות היפרדות רוחנית מהזהות. יכול אדם להיות גולה בארצו בתנאים סוציופוליטים מסויימים, יכול אדם להיות גולה בתוכי תוכו בתנאי מגדר ודת מסויימים.
גלות היא גם געגועים; זכרונות מתקופות אחרות, הרגלים, אנשים ותרבות.
אדם צריך גבולות כדי להיות שייך. תיחום של האזורים הפיסיים והרוחניים שמאפשרים לו ליצור טריטוריה ברורה של חופש בה
שייכותו מאפשרת ביטחון. ביטחון פיסי חברתי ורוחני , ההיפך מגלות.

חגה
A woman turns, circles around.
Is she circling around herself? Circling, dizzy, not seeing? Or moving through her life in dance?
Perhaps she turns back to see what’s left of her past interests, looks back in fear, looking for her own shadow.
Or wanders through the rooms of her own home, looking to go out but unable to.
A woman wanders ,staring ,wondering, or is she determined? Is she moving forward or is she withdrawing? Is her movement linear or is she tracing back her own steps?
It is possible that she is wandering the streets, paths, fields, city alleys, around the block or along the beaches, hoping to come across enlightenment.
Or is she really circling around her lover, perhaps continuing to circle round her wedding chuppa, not searching for her own self yet.
אשה חגה. מסתובבת.
האם היא מסתובבת סביב עצמה? חגה, מסוחררת לא רואה? או רוקדת את חייה בתנועה?
אולי היא מסתובבת לאחור, מחפשת מה נותר מתעסקת בעבר, מביטה אחור בפחד, מחפשת את צילה.
או מטופפת בין חדרי ביתה, מחפשת לצאת אך לא יכולה
אשה משוטטת תוך בהייה ותהייה, או שמא חדורת מטרה? האם פניה קדימה, האם היא נסוגה? האם הליכתה ליניארית או חוזרת על צעדי עצמה?
יתכן והיא מסתובבת ברחובות, בשבילים, בשדות, בסמטאות העיר, מסביב לבלוק המגורים או בחופים? מחפשת להיתקל בהארה.
או שבכלל חגה היא סביב אהובה, אולי ממשיכה את הקפות החופה? לא החלה כלל בחיפוש דמותה.

Eight works by eight different artists are displayed in Naby Gallery’s first exhibition. The artists were asked to express their experience during the Corona lockdown. The works on display express the general sense of paralysis, of social and creative isolation, whether experienced personally or communally.
At a time that allowed us to be introspective, the everyday and obvious were experienced from a different lens and even ceased to exist completely.

תערוכת ההשקה של גלריה נבי
בתערוכה מוצגות שמונה עבודות של שמונה אמנים אשר התבקשו להתייחס לחוויית הסגר בתקופת הקורונה. היצירות המוצגות קשורות לשיתוק הכללי, הבידוד החברתי והיצירתי, בין אם בתחושה אישית או תפישה ציבורית.
בתקופה בה הפנאי מייצר רגעי בהייה, מעודד זוויות ראיה ומחדד השקפה, המובן מאליו מקבל מעמד חדש או שחדל להתקיים.
התנאים הלא אידיאליים לעבודה צמצמו את הנגישות למושאי ציור ואת מגוון החומרים לעבודה. מתוך ה’תקיעות’ הזו, שפע הפנאי והסיטואציה הכל כך מאתגרת, נולדו יצירות אחרות ולעיתים פחות אופייניות לאמן.
